Our Focus Areas
At My Body My Body, we prioritize the pursuit of gender equality and equity in all spheres of life. We work to dismantle patriarchal norms and practices that perpetuate discrimination and inequality, advocating for systems and structures that respect the dignity and rights of women and girls. Our gender focus includes:
1. Promoting gender-responsive policies at county and national levels.
2. Building the capacity of women and girls to become change agents in their communities.
3. Campaigning against harmful practices such as Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) and child marriage.
4. Fostering male engagement in gender equality to challenge toxic masculinities and cultivate allyship.
My Body My Body champions inclusive, comprehensive, and accessible SRHR for all women and girls, especially those in marginalized and underserved communities. Our SRHR initiatives focus on:
1.Providing information, services, and products to support menstrual health and hygiene management.
2.Strengthening SRHR education to equip young people with accurate, age-appropriate knowledge.
3.Addressing barriers to accessing SRHR services, particularly for adolescent girls, young women, and those with disabilities.
4.Advocating for the decriminalization of unsafe abortion and expanding access to safe, legal reproductive health services.
5.Enhancing partnerships with grassroots organizations to amplify SRHR outreach and impact.
We recognize the unique challenges faced by women and girls at the intersection of multiple identities, including disability, age, ethnicity, socio-economic status, and geography. My Body My Body adopts an intersectional approach to address the overlapping systems of oppression that exacerbate vulnerabilities. Our work in this area includes:
1.Designing targeted programs for adolescent girls in Arid and Semi-Arid Lands (ASAL) and urban informal settlements.
2.Advocating for the inclusion of women and girls with disabilities in all decision-making processes related to SRHR and GBV.
3.Elevating the voices of young women and girls from diverse backgrounds to ensure their lived experiences inform policy and program development.
4.Collaborating with like-minded organizations to ensure that no one is left behind in the fight for gender justice and rights.
